Job Summary
We are looking a Junior Tekla Checker with 2–3 years of experience in structural steel detailing and checking using Tekla Structures. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of AISC and OSHA standards and prior exposure to projects in the US, UK, and Canadian markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and check Tekla models and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
- Verify connections, dimensions, and details as per AISC, OSHA, and client standards.
- Coordinate with modelers and project leads to resolve discrepancies and design issues.
- Prepare RFI (Request for Information) documents and track their responses efficiently.
- Ensure fabrication and erection drawings are clear, consistent, and ready for release.
- Maintain quality control across all project deliverables.
- Communicate effectively with the detailing team to implement corrections and improvements.
- Assist senior checkers and project managers in maintaining project schedules and quality benchmarks.
- Keep records of revisions, comments, and approvals throughout the project cycle.
- Demonstrate great presence of mind in identifying issues and providing quick, practical solutions.
- Should be able to review and validate 3D Tekla models using generated reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Must be capable of preparing detailed checking reports and documentation.
- Should have the ability to evaluate the erectability and constructability of each structural member to ensure smooth on-site assembly.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in steel detailing and checking using Tekla Structures.
- Working knowledge of AISC and OSHA standards.
- Experience in projects for US, UK, and Canada markets.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality control.
- Good understanding of fabrication and erection processes.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Attributes
- Ability to identify design inconsistencies and provide practical solutions.
- Knowledge of additional BIM tools like AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and grow into a senior checking or coordination role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
